Our Story begins long before Diya existed, with generations of merchants crossing distant lands in search of opportunity, craftsmanship, and discovery. Through trade routes and growing cities, a legacy of entrepreneurship and cultural connection was passed from one generation to the next.
That journey eventually led Abdul Aziz to Canada, where he established a business in optics. What began as a profession soon became a family legacy—one rooted in precision, trust, and a deep appreciation for the craft of vision. Years later, later, that legacy inspired a new direction. The goal was not only to continue the family’s connection to optics, but to reimagine it through the lens of history, culture, and modern design. Inspired by civilizations, architecture, trade routes, and the evolution of vision itself, Diya was created to merge heritage with contemporary eyewear.
The name Diya, meaning light and illumination, was inspired by the work of Ibn al-Haytham, the pioneering scientist widely recognized as the Father of Optics. His groundbreaking Book of Optics transformed the understanding of light, vision, and the human eye centuries ahead of its time, laying the foundation for modern optical science. And so, Diya was born—where history, craftsmanship, and modern perspective come together to continue a legacy generations in the making.
